More about Stephanie
Tarot was always a familiar presence in Stephanieโs life (her mother often read cards for friends and family), but it wasnโt until much later that she truly felt drawn to the practice herself. The spark came unexpectedly, when she came across The Fantod Pack by Edward Gorey in a box of her motherโs craft supplies. Her mother had planned to use the delightfully strange cards to make a Halloween mobile, but Stephanie was immediately captivated. Goreyโs trademark sense of dark humour and impending doom shines in the deckโs 20 absurdly grim cards. As Gorey is her favourite artist, this eerie little deck sparked a fascination with tarot that quickly deepened.
She immersed herself in learning everything she could…eventually leading her to create her first deck, Oak, Ash and Thorn.
Adam Oehlers
Adam is the illustrator of all four of the Three Trees Tarot and Oracle decks: Oak, Ash & Thorn; Smoke, Ash & Embers; Thistledown; and Heartwood.

More about Adam
Adam Oehlers is an illustrator currently working out of Norwich, England. He has exhibited worldwide, from Australia to the UK, Europe, and the United States. He has worked alongside writers and publishers across the globe, and he has worked as concept artist, character designer, and writer for animations and computer games.
He has always drawn great inspiration from the classic illustrations of Arthur Rackham, Edward Gorey, and any intricate pen-and-ink or print-based artwork. With a deep love of old stories and fairy tales, Adam aims to tell a story through every illustration. His work strives to evoke a sense of nostalgia (drawing the viewer back to a forgotten memory), with the hope of reminding them of the soft magic that surrounds us.
The world he explores in his art is a strange old place: lamp-lit and cobblestoned, trapped in its own time, with odd pieces of magic creeping in at the edges.
Environmental & Social Justce Statement
At Three Trees Tarot, we care deeply about how our work is produced. For us, the process matters just as much as the finished product, and we want our choices to reflect kindness, responsibility, and respect.
Looking after the environment is at the heart of what we do. We print locally in the UK with Generation Press, a B-Corp certified printer known for their strong environmental values. All of our decks are printed on FSC-certified paper, and our boxes are recyclable and biodegradable. We also use recycled and recyclable packaging, and weโre always working on ways to cut waste and reduce our footprint even further.
Some impacts canโt be avoided just yet, so we do our best to balance them. Through Ecologi, we support certified climate projects and reforestation. In 2023โ24, for example, our shipping produced around 9.71 tonnes of COโe, which we offset with 10 tonnes of verified carbon removal. From 2025 onwards, weโre committed to offsetting 100% of our shipping-related emissions every year.
Fairness and ethics guide how we work with people, too. We make sure everyone we collaborate with is paid fairly and promptly, and we aim to be open and transparent about our processes and choices (seeing mistakes as opportunities to learn and improve).
We also believe in giving back. A portion of our profits goes to conservation and reforestation projects through our print partners, as well as to organisations like the League Against Cruel Sports. Supporting causes we believe in is an important part of who we are, and weโre always looking for new ways to make a positive difference.
We may be a small business, but we believe that small steps can make a big difference. Weโre committed to learning and improving every day and holding ourselves accountable.
